Parking Rip-Offs

So I had to drop off a form at the doctor's office, and had to take a ticket to enter the parking lot.  When I came out, I put the ticket in the pay machine and it came up that I had to pay $3.75 for 6 minutes of parking.

As I ground my teeth, I walked over to the office and complained. She said "Oh, we have a 1/2 hour grace period. If you had just put your ticket in the machine upon leaving the lot, you wouldn't have had to pay."

Of course I couldn't get my money back, and there is nothing on the ticket that says anything about a grace period, nor is it on the machine that takes your money.

WTF.

  1. My daughter needed to visit emergency last month. We were there for two hours and were treated with great care by everyone at Ajax-Pickering Hospital.

When we left the hospital the parking ticket machine was broken, so my husband had to trudge around the construction barriers to the front of the hospital. When my husband finally returned, he was furious as the two hours worth of parking cost $16.00!

Unreal. Add to that the bottled water for my vomiting child cost $2.50.

  2. I'm waiting for the powers-that-be to have to get daily treatments for cancer or other deadly diseases. What does that add up to for parking? Only about $320 a month. And their reasoning? "That's what other hospitals charge."
